Two Months

We went to the pediatrician this morning for Brylee's two month wellness check, and here's what we look like:
She weighs 11 lbs 12.5 oz (75%) and is 23 1/4 inches long (75-90%). She looks great, with just a little skin issues. She has mild eczema on her face, belly, and back, and a good case of cradle cap. She got her first round of shots this morning, which made for a sad and cranky day.
She is such a happy baby, especially since we have become more regulated with nap time and play time. She slept for 8 hours through the night two days in a row last week, but then reverted back to our usually 4-6 hour stretches this week (which I still can't complain about). She holds her head up really well and looks around side to side, following objects and us as we come and go. I think she has started discovering her hands - she puts them in her mouth now, not to suck on them or when she's hungry, but when she's playing.

We had a hard time getting her to wake up for these pictures, as you can see by the big yawn, followed by closed eyes.

My sweet, pretty babe, growing so fast. I can't believe it has been over two months since she was born.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

We had such a great holiday season! It was so fun celebrating these holiday's with a new baby, and I can only imagine that next year will be even more fun. Obviously, Brylee had no idea what was going on, but Bryan and I sure enjoyed treating our little girl to some of our family traditions and holiday firsts. It is really fun to think how quickly things change in a year's time. Last Christmas we couldn't have predicted having a baby this Christmas, and next Christmas we will have a mobile 1 year old! Here's a quick picture recap of how we spent our week of Christmas & New Years!
We took our first plane ride with Brylee. I was very nervous of how we would get all of our "stuff" through security and how Brylee would do on the plane. Our doctor told us to feed her during take-off & landing to help her ears. We were easily able to feed her during take-off, but she fell asleep so hard I couldn't wake her up during landing. Luckily, she was not bothered at all by the plane and did great.
We woke up Christmas morning after our first night of 5 hours of consecutive sleep! She was 3 days shy of 5 weeks old, and I was so proud of her. That sleep patterned continued the entire week in Atlanta! What a great Christmas present to me!

She got several Christmas presents, and thoroughly enjoyed sleeping through the entire present opening process. Again...next year will be so different!
Bryan got a Kindle for Christmas...let the reading begin
Every child has to have some Christmas PJs (that they can only wear once because by next Christmas they've completely grown out of them!)
My sleeping angel
My dad, Gramps, loved having his time with Brylee
My Grandmama was with us for Christmas and always had the "perfect touch" when Brylee was fussy
My brother David and his girlfriend Emily
My youngest brother Andrew, who met Brylee for the first time because he was unable to make it out to Dallas during Thanksgiving when she was born
My Uncle Mike was very curious with Brylee's every move, but was willing to hold her even when she was crying
We had a white Christmas! It started snowing Christmas afternoon, and by Sunday morning, the ground was covered.
Again, as you can tell, Brylee was really impressed with her first snow day!

New Years Eve...Brylee woke up for her 10pm feeding, and we kept her "up" (out of her pack-in-play, although asleep) until midnight so she could help us ring in the new year! I definitely am a mom who likes her child on a schedule, but I will also not be a stickler when it comes to fun holidays & events. So yes, my kids will be allowed to stay up to midnight if they want to on new years eve, even starting at 1 month old!

We had such a great holiday season, filled with lots of traveling. It's nice to be back home & solidify our routine & family time before I have to start back at work.
